AME Roundup is returning to the Vancouver Convention Centre East from January 26 to 29, 2026, with a sharpened focus on “Minerals for a Changing World.” The Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) expects more than 6,000 participants from over 40 countries, spanning geoscientists, prospectors, investors, suppliers, governments and Indigenous partners.

Hosted by AME, the annual Roundup is billed as the premier global stage for mineral exploration, with this year’s theme framing discussions around regulatory efficiency, Indigenous partnership, people and innovation in a rapidly changing world. Delegates will find a packed program of technical sessions, short courses, networking events and a busy Exhibit Hall, including Core Shack, Prospectors’ Tent and the Project Generators’ Hub.
The keynote lineup is headlined by AME President and CEO Todd Stone, who will open the conference by speaking on the importance of mineral exploration to Canada’s economic future. Stone, a former MLA for Kamloops-South Thompson, served almost 12 years in the B.C. Legislature and held cabinet roles including Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Minister Responsible for Emergency Management. Before entering politics, he founded and led iCompass Technologies, building software tools for hundreds of local governments across Canada and the United States, experience he now brings to a sector looking to scale both technology and investment.

Reconciliation is front and centre at this year’s Reconciliation Breakfast, where Kúkpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir of Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc will address advancing reconciliation in mineral exploration and strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities. Casimir is the 14th elected chief of Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and a direct descendant of hereditary Chief Louis Clexlixqen, combining deep lineage with more than a decade of leadership in portfolios ranging from land and taxation to housing. She has become a nationally recognised voice on truth, reconciliation and community-driven development, including through her leadership during the investigations at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School site.

At the AME Lunch, Tom McCulley, Chief Technical Officer at Anglo American, will speak on innovation and the future of mining, drawing on decades of major-project experience. McCulley leads Anglo American’s global technical disciplines from discovery and geoscience through to processing, along with safety, health and environment, after earlier roles as CEO of the company’s Crop Nutrients business and CEO of Anglo American in Peru. Before joining Anglo American, he held senior roles at Newmont and began his career with Fluor, giving him end-to-end experience across mine design, construction and operation.

The Finance Lunch will feature David Thornton, Managing Director of Newmont’s Americas business unit, who will offer his perspective on capital flows, project finance and risk. Thornton has more than 20 years in the mining sector and a track record of delivering safe performance in surface and predominantly underground operations, including leadership roles at Newmont’s Leeville and Carlin underground mines. Since joining Newmont in 2016, he has progressed through roles including Vice President Operations for Canada and the United States, experience that now informs his oversight of a portfolio stretching across the Americas.

Rounding out the keynote roster, Anne Thompson will address the invitation-only Mentorship Mingle, where she will speak to building careers and capacity in mineral exploration. Thompson is president of PetraScience Consultants Inc. and the lead host and producer of the SEG Discovery to Recovery Podcast, with thirty-five years of experience spanning field work, applied mineralogy and consulting. She is also the author of Innovation in Mineral Exploration and a WIMUK Global 100 Inspirational Woman in Mining, bringing both technical depth and a long view on how to develop the next generation of explorers.
