From hawks and working dogs to towering cranes and curious kids, the day showcased the past, present, and future of Vancouver’s bustling waterfront.

Resource Works joined community members, Indigenous leaders, and industry partners September 27 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of GCT Vanterm, a cornerstone of Canada’s Pacific Gateway. The event highlighted the people, partnerships, and innovations that keep global trade moving — from wildlife educators with Harris’s Hawks, to service dogs ensuring security, to families exploring the towering equipment that drives modern logistics.

“Vanterm has been a vital link in Canada’s trade for half a century,” said Stewart Muir, President & CEO of Resource Works. “Marking this milestone reminds us that prosperity depends not only on infrastructure, but on the workers, communities, and families who sustain it.”

Welcoming the community into the heart of terminal operations, GCT Vanterm’s 50th anniversary celebrated the people, partnerships, and technologies that have made five decades of Pacific Gateway trade possible.
